If you would you like to help us with our work with young people. Would you like to work in a supportive but challenging environment, and have a day a week to spare time, then maybe you would like to Volunteer at The What? Centre.
Initially you would be mainly involved in administration work and meeting and greeting, but with time shadowing other workers and training, you would be able to get involved with more complex advice work.
If you are interested and would like to know more please Contact Us. Or you may wish to go through Dudley Council for Voluntary Services.
If you are a qualified counsellor you may be able to join our counselling team as a qualified counselling volunteer. This would mean providing us with between 3 and 7 hours of counselling per week.
The What? Centre does take counselling placements however demand for placements vastly outweighs the number of placements we can provide. We operate an interview process as and when we have spaces for placement counsellors. Because of the seriousness of the issues we work with we are only able to take placements who are either in the last year of a Diploma or on a Post Graduate or Masters Counselling Course. We have an interview procedure which involves a formal interview, a role play, scenario work and IT skills. We have to be really sure that you are the right placement for our organisation.
We are not able to take counselling placements for those who have completed online counselling diplomas as we do not feel this equips them to work with our clients.
If you are interested in a counselling placement you can in the first instance ring the Centre to see if we have any places available. If we do have spaces we will ask you to send us a copy of your CV and we will get back to you if you are selected to attend an interview.
