Emergency Contraception
Emergency Contraception (known as the morning after pill) should be taken within 3 days (72 hours) of having unprotected sex. The sooner it is taken the more effective it is.

  • If you are aged 16 or over - you can get emergency contraception from a chemist, it will cost around £25.
  • If you are aged 13 or over - you can get emergency contraception for free from Boots in Merry Hill, Kingswinford and Dudley and Murrays Chemist in Stourbridge, County Pharmacy in Wordsley Green(Mon & Fri only, Lloyds Pharmacy in Whychbury Medical Centre, Morrisons Pharmacy in Whychbury Medical Centre, Hawne Pharmacy, Halesowen, Millard and Bullock, Coseley, Milan Chemist, Dudley. You may need to take some ID.
  • If you are under 16 or over 16 - you can get emergency contraception from your GP.
  • If you are under 16 or over 16 - you can get emergency contraception from Brook Young Person’s Contraception and Sexual Health Service. It is based at 31 Priory Street, Dudley. Telephone: 01384 239001.
  • If you are under 16 or over 16 - you can get emergency contraception from the Brook Clinic at The What? Centre on a Thursday afternoon between
    3.00 - 5.00pm. (You can only get emergency contraception from The What? Centre at this time)

What should I do if I think I'm Pregnant?
If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, you can go to the following services for advice, information & testing.

  • You can visit our Brook Clinic on Thursday afternoons.
  • Brook Young Person’s Contraception and Sexual Health Service, is based in Dudley but also has clinics at other venues in the area. Tel: 01384 239001.
  • There are other contraceptive clinics which are:

    Brierley Hill Health and Social Care (Main Clinic)
    First Floor, Venture Way, Brierley Hill, West Midlands, DY5 1RU
    Opening times:
    Tuesday and Wednesday 10.00am — 5.30pm
    Thursday 9.00am — 8.30pm
    Friday 11.00am — 2.30pm

    Halesowen Health Centre
    14 Birmingham Street, Halesowen, B63 3HU
    Opening times:
    Wednesday 5.00pm — 8.30pm.

    For centralised bookings and information please call 01384 321480. They offer a full range of contraception including implants and coils, emergency contraception, termination of pregnancy referrals, Chlamydia screening and free condoms. Complex procedures are also available at their consultant led clinics.


    What do I do if I think I’ve got an STI?
    If you think that you have a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) you need to go to the GUM Clinic which is based in Russell's Hall Hospital

    Where can I get a Chlamydia Test?
    You can get a Chlamydia Test from the following services:

    Where can I get free Condoms?
    You can get free condoms from the following services:

    The What? Centre has a partnership with Brook to provide condoms for young people aged 13—25. Clients must first make an appointment with the Brook Nurse on Thursday afternoons at The What? Centre and then they can come to the centre and collect 12 free condoms a month. Please also see information on contraceptive clinics detailed above under "What should I do if I think I am pregnant".
